President's Message

Dr. Roland S. Arriola
President
Texas Valley Communities Foundation
When I retired as Vice President at The University of Texas - Pan American (now University of Texas Rio Grande Valley), I wanted to continue my life's work of service to others. From the time I was a child, my parents taught me that service to others is what gives meaning to live. I feel very blessed to be serving as the President of the Texas Valley Communities Foundation (TVCOF), a 501 (c) tax-exempt organization.

I am proud to say that I come from a generation of Americans who, although modest in means, dug deep into their pockets to help organizations like the March of Dimes wipe out polio. As a child, I remember my parents, teachers and friends donating what little money they had to help stamp out that cruel disease. Helping our neighbors in their time of need has always been the saving grace of America.

Dr. Douglas M Lawson puts it best in his book, Give to Life, when he writes:

"The affluent help the impoverished, those who can reach teach the illiterate, corporations support communities, and the elderly are protected and aided by the young. And those who serve a loving God out of faith nurture the spirit of their religion. There is richness in the fabric of American life, rooting in giving and volunteering. It is present in good times and in bad."

TVCOF seeks to fulfill its mission of addressing and solving critical needs in the Rio Grande Valley by helping individuals to meet their charitable goals and connecting them to pressing community needs.

With your generous gifts and supports, TVCOF will make a big difference in the lives of Valley residents for generations to come.

Sincerely,
